Tom Bender, Founder, CEO

With over 25-years of technical leadership expertise in start-up businesses, Tom brings a unique blend of engineering excellence, practical operational experience, creativity and energy to the History Spots team.  With a deep passion for technology and a long term vision and plan to improve education through technology, Tom lead the creation of the Story of Where® platform to organize and empower mobile learning through experience by connecting people to place. When Tom is not building and promoting Story of Where, he enjoys spending time with his family watching movies, biking, hiking, skiing, golfing and fishing. Tom also enjoys ceramics, riding dual sport motorbikes and reading.


  Tom Burnosky, Co-founder + VP Sales

Successful Sales Director with substantial track record of goal attainment, strategy/tactical development, training and talent management building inside and field sales teams. Deep experience in the e-learning and publishing industry with multiple vertical channels. Possessing a rare combination of big picture thinking with results oriented acumen. Responsible for building and coaching high performing sales teams who are effective sales champions. Secured major product adoptions in 29 states. working with a “best in class”, 2010 SIIA CODiE award winning product line. Repositioned sales group, based on market coverage, to increase velocity of high growth target areas. Passionate about education and working with bleeding edge tools to aid educators and raise the bar for student performance.


  Keiran Flanigan, Mobil Architect

Keiran builds beautifully engineered iPhone and iPad applications from his home in sunny San Diego, California.  His academic education is in film, both production and theory and has spent a fair share of time as a graphic designer and web developer before becoming an iOS developer. All of these experiences play a heavy part in what he does, how he does it and who Keirian is in general — a thoughtful, creative and extremely clever mobile architect.

Beyond the warm glow of  monitors, Keiran plays soccer, golf and will never pass up a run or a trip to the beach. He enjoys a good video game and loves the films of Stanley Kubrick, Darren Aronofsky and Yimou Zhang (in no particular order).


Cameron Hadley

Cameron brings a wealth of graphical arts expertise to the History Spots’ team.  With over 25 years of print and 15 years of digital graphics experience, Cam’s broad background and precision eye give the Story of Where® brand a look and style that is uniquely beautiful and memorable. Cam is responsible for the design of our company logo and our digital and print graphics.  When Cam is not creating wonderful graphical art, he enjoys fishing, hunting, hiking, reading and being outdoors as much as possible.


Board of Advisors

Ron Strich

Ron is currently President of Verifi LLC, which is jointly owned by Ron and W. R. Grace. Verifi® specializes in placing process control and network communications on concrete mixer trucks to ensure the quality production of concrete from the batching plant to the construction site.

Ron Has been involved in numerous startup companies and global technology companies during his career. Ron is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Technology. He also holds a Masters of Science degree in Management Information Systems from Purdue University and a Masters in Business Administration from Denver University.

Ron joined the History Spots Advisory Board in February, 2013


Michelle Pearson

Michelle Pearson is a Social Studies teacher at Hulstrom Options School in the Adams 12 school district. She is the recipient of several fellowships which have focused on the design of primary source lessons for PBS, Walden Family Playhouse, NEH, the White House Historical Association, and the National Consortium of Teaching Asia. She was recognized as the 2007 Colorado Technology Teacher of the Year, the 2008 Elgin Heinz Award Winner in Humanities, and received a Colorado State Honors Award for excellence in Historic Preservation in 2008.

She designs lessons as a volunteer for the White House Historical Association, National Park Service, and the Smithsonian Institution while working with educators across the state to infuse hands-on teaching of history into the curriculum with the use of primary sources and technology. She is committed to the Preserve America program and works to bring preservation education and activities to the classroom on a regular basis.

Michelle has a B.A. in History, Geography, and Historic Preservation from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Her publications and projects include a lesson collection based on the journal White House History, two books on the history of Denver entitled Historic Sacred Landmarks of Denver, and Historic Denver Landmarks for Children and Families, and several American history articles for Cobblestone Magazine and other local history and preservation journals. She has three boys who are active Junior Rangers and love the presidents as much as she does and is married to a husband who tolerates history but lives for technology.
